Southwest Computer Literacy Project

How does it work?

The overall concept is really quite simple. Initially, an website will be created using computer space that may be donated by the ELCA or by one of a growing number of independent concerns which provide free web space to nonprofit groups. Once the website has been established, each participating church will be given the opportunity to provide information regarding their ministries, programs, job opportunities, etc. that are occurring at their church or in the community. This data will be listed on a community bulletin board that can be updated as needed by a web site administrator or by a member of the congregation who will handle this job for his or her congregation.

By using a personal computer, pastors and members of participating churches will be able to access the website from virtually anywhere in the world. Pastors and members will be able to submit or update information that they wish to have posted on the internet on a daily/weekly basis as needed. Most importantly, once a person has accessed the website they will be able to view information that has been posted by all of the participating churches. They will also have the ability to send additional comments and messages to other persons at any time.
